Bordered by the Irish Sea, Flintshire, Cheshire, Shropshire, Montgomeryshire, Merionethshire and Caernarfonshire. Denbighshire was created by the Laws of Wales Act in 1535-1542 from the previous areas in Marches Cantrefi. In 1974 the use of Denbighshire ended and the creation of the new County of Clwyd was brought in.
