One of the traditional counties, County Wicklow, was formed in 1606. Part of the Eastern and Midland Region and the province of Leinster, this county is bordered by the Irish Sea, Wexford, Carlow, Kildare, and South Dublin, as well as Dún Laoghaire–Rathdown. The name Wicklow is derived from Víkingaló (Old Norse for "Vikings' Meadow"). Festivals for the Arts and Music occur in County Wicklow, with Mermaid an Arts Centre based in Bray. Film making is also common in Wicklow; you may have seen scenery of the mountains in the BBC series “Ballykissangel” and the movie “P.S. I Love You”.","County Wexford (Wexford, Contae Loch GarmanI)
Based on the historic Gaelic territory of Hy Kinsella (Uí Ceinnsealaigh), whose capital was Ferns, County Wexford, is located in the province of Leinster and the Southern Region. Plenty of evidence of early habitation can be seen with the Portal tombs (sometimes called dolmens) at Ballybrittas (on Bree Hill) and Newbawn, dating back to the Neolithic period. In 1169, Wexford was the site of invasion by Normans; the subsequent colonization was followed by the Cambro-Normans.","County Leitrim (Leitrim, Contae Liatroma)
Part of Connacht's province and the Norther and Wester Region, County Leitrim is bordered by Donegal, Fermanagh, Cavan, Longford, Sligo, and Roscommon. It also has the shortest coastline of the sea. In ancient times Leitrim formed the western half of the Kingdom of Breifne; the area was influenced by the O'Rourke family of Dromahair, whose heraldic lion occupies the official county shield to this day. County Leitrim has a hilly and mountainous landscape in its northwest and is relatively flat in the southeast.","Munster is the southernmost of the four Irish provinces.

Part of the province of Leinster, bordered by Meath, Kildare, Wicklow, and the Irish Sea, is County Dublin. Ireland’s most populous county is divided into the local government areas of Dublin City, Dún Laoghaire–Rathdown, Fingal, and South Dublin; the latter three were created in 1994. Discoveries of inhabitants dating back to the late Mesolithic period make this county the oldest in Ireland. With a rich history from the Vikings through to expansion in the 1960’s it is clear to see why there is a strong influence on tourism, but don’t underestimate the new draws such as the Guinness Storehouse.","The Irish Potato Famine, also known as The Great Famine or Great Hunger lasted from 1845 to 1850 and resulted in a great exodus of Irish refugees fleeing to Britain, Australia, and North America, one of the most dramatic waves of Irish migration in history. It was one of the world's worst disasters in world history - over one million people died in a five year span.","Grattan and the Irish Volunteer army obtained an independent parliament in 1782. Continued Irish unrest and Wolfe Tone's rebellion in 1798 led to the Act of Union in 1800 and Irish representation in British Parliament. Daniel O'Connell's agitation resulted in the granting of Catholic Emancipation in 1829. The Irish Potato Famine of the 1840s decimated the population and caused mass emigration. ","It is generally thought that Norse Viking, Leif Erikson, was the first European to arrive on the island of Newfoundland, now the easternmost province of Canada. He arrived there in the year 1000 and established L'Anse aux Meadows, the only known Viking settlement in North America outside of Greenland.
