County Cork is the largest of the 32 counties of Ireland and in the province of Munster. King Henry the VII named the county the "rebel county" because of its support. County Cork borders Kerry, Limerick, Tipperary, and Waterford. Much of what is now County Cork was once part of the Kingdom of Daes Mumhan. After the Norman invasion in the 12th century, the McCarthy clan pushed westward into what is now West Cork and County Kerry. Located in the South West region, part of the province of Munster, County Kerry is named after the Ciarraige who lived in part of the county. Bordering a shoreline along the Atlantic Ocean, this county only borders two other counties, County Limerick and County Cork. The lakes of Killarney are deemed outstandingly beautiful in the Killarney National Park, a tourist area without a doubt.
