The historic county has different boundaries than the one known today. It included a large exclave called Maelor Saesneg, as well as Prestatyn, Rhyl, and St Asaph, which are all now part of Denbighshire, Bangor-on-Dee, and Overton-on-Dee, which are part of Wrexham.
