The surname Parkel was first found in the lands of Parkhill in the barony of Torboltoun, Ayrshire. Early records of the family are scarce, but we did find "Robert Parkhill, merchant in Glasgow, 1605. Parkhill, servitor to Sir George Elphinstone, was admitted burgess of Glasgow in 1631." 3
