What does the name Yeate mean?

The Yeate name comes from the old English "geat," and was probably first used as a name for a keeper of a gate.

Early Origins of the Yeate family

The name spread throughout England and Scotland, and possibly arrived in Ireland in the wake of the Norman invasion of 1172.
